My favourite season is definitely autumn. In Hanoi, where I live, this season is quite clear. It usually starts around September and lasts until about November. It comes right after the very hot and rainy summer, so it’s a welcome change. It’s not a very long season, maybe only two or three months, but it’s the time of year everyone really waits for.
The weather during this time is just perfect. It’s not hot and sticky like the summer, and it’s not cold like the winter. The temperature is very mild and cool. Most days are sunny, with a clear, deep blue sky. We also get a gentle breeze, which is really refreshing. The humidity drops, so the air feels dry and comfortable. It’s the weather that makes you want to be outside.
Autumn is very different from the other seasons in Hanoi. The summer is extremely hot and humid, with heavy rain. Then, the winter is surprisingly cold and damp, and the sky is often grey. Spring is a bit warmer, but it’s famous for the non-stop drizzle. So, autumn is the only season that is dry, mild, and sunny. It’s a stable and pleasant time, which is why it stands out.
I love autumn because of the special feeling it brings. It’s a very romantic and calm time. The air has a famous smell from a ‘milk flower’, which only blooms then.
